Thanksgiving is a great holiday!

I love the opportunity to more mindfully and publicly thank the Lord for my many blessings.

A lot of people have jumped straight into Christmas but my family and I like to decorate for Thanksgiving each year.

To make this front porch decor, I simply kept what I had done for my Halloween Pumpkin Porch decor and switched out the Halloween mat for a Thankful mat.

I switched out the branches that I found in our back forest and put faux pampas grass in the planters along with faux flowers.

I kept the pumpkins and squash there on the porch. I plan to pull the pumpkins inside when it gets really cold because I plan to roast, preserve, bake with, freeze-dry, and/or can them. This is so they do not go to waste.

It has been unseasonably warm in our area; there has been no threat of frost, so it has been possible to display the pumpkins for longer than planned.

I love the variety of colors and shapes that pumpkins and squash have. They make me happy just looking at them.

It took me about 10 minutes or less to decorate. All I did was modify my Halloween porch decor as mentioned above.

How to Make this Thanksgiving Pumpkin Porch Decor

If you are starting from scratch on this, it could be quite pricey to replicate this look. Here is an idea of what you’d need to purchase. 2 planters (various prices I got mine on a local classified for about $20 a planter pot), the pumpkins were $150 ($5-$6 each at Costco), the wreath (Target) was about $45, the mats (Amazon and Costco were about $10-$20 each), the pampas grass came from World Market (extra tall) and the flowers came from Hobby Lobby (I think) probably about $6 a stem.

That’s it. It is simple and easy and fairly inexpensive—comparatively speaking. I did look at places that decorate your porch with pumpkins and the cheapest I could find was $250-$600 depending on the display.

This display would have been closer to the $500 mark on their advertisement. The total for the pumpkins were about $150. Since I used everything else I had on hand, that was the total out of pocket cost.

I am glad I decorated this on my own. It was fun to pick out the pumpkins at Costco and organize them.

I am Thankful for God, my family, friends, and everything else I’ve been blessed with. Happy Thanksgiving.

Supply List

Fun fact. These pumpkins should be fairly sheltered from frost, so I plan to roast them and make pumpkin purées and recipes from them once Halloween is over.

Happy Thanksgiving!
