This is my 2025 Traditional Christmas Mantel Design.
My favorite part about this design is having the nativity front and center. I did this last year and I absolutely loved it!
While I try to change up my decor each year. Going forward, I’d like to always keep a nativity or something to remind my family of Jesus Christ on our living room mantel which happens to be the focal point of our home.
Love at Home is the theme I am trying to decorate with this year because when our lives are centered on Jesus Christ we feel true unconditional love and can love others… and also, I’m hoping my kids will be more loving to each other at home!
There are six 6′ lengths of faux pine garlands in two different textures on this mantel.
I added a 5′ cranberry pinecone and faux pine spray as a centerpiece and to frame the simple nativity.
I hung our kids’ stockings on the right.
The visual weight of having the stockings on the right pointed toward the tree creates a flow. Added to that, I placed a Christmas blanket my children and I tied last year and a few pillows that matched the color scheme on the couch behind the tree.
This year I went more traditional with a cranberry and green and bronze color scheme. The artwork on the wall is one of my favorites ever and ties in well with the bells and ornaments on the tree.
I was so blessed to find this artwork. It is my all-time favorite! It is a painting of mountains covered in snow… and only if you get close can you see the ski lift in the foreground. Skiing and snowboarding are near and dear to my heart as I grew up frequenting the slopes. I love mountains, hence my favorite art piece.
The color and tones of these elements match which creates a seem-less feel and bring the mantel, tree, couch, and artwork into one design.
Last year I choose a non-traditional color scheme for my Peace on Earth mantel and Christmas Tree.
While untraditional, I also aimed for a cohesive look with a Peace on Earth Mantel and Peace on Earth Christmas Tree designs and color scheme.
I find it so fun to switch up color schemes and decor. My husband likes it too. He wrote me a poem last year for Christmas and in it mentioned the creativity, beauty, and design I bring to our home. It meant a lot to me. I didn’t know he appreciated it so much. It was so sweet and I re-read it often.
Next, I added 3 strings of antique bronze bells to both sides of the mantel.
Then I added large frosted cranberries I bought from Hobby Lobby.
I love the cohesive look the added cranberries gave to the otherwise plain green garland.
I absolutely love it.
Supplies for this Traditional Christmas Mantel Design
Bells (6), garland 6′ Faux Winter Evergreen (4)- Studio McGee
Deep Pine garland (2)- Walmart
Stockings- Pottery Barn
Nativity- Deseret Book
Centerpiece pine, cranberry, pinecone spray and frosted cranberries- Hobby Lobby
Cost: I already had a few garlands, the centerpiece spray, the nativity, and the stockings. I bought four lengths of garland and 6 strings of bells in the after Christmas sale last year totaling about $300.
I will be using the bells and garland each year though so unlike many of my themed decorations I buy, I consider it yearly Christmas investment and worth the money.
I hope some of these tips or resources on where I bought the items help if you want to create a traditional Christmas mantel.
Merry Christmas!
