Hello Kitty Birthday Party

My daughter Amelia turned six and we had a Hello Kitty birthday party for her.

We held the party at a jump house called Kangaroo Zoo, and they allowed us to pick our party room and so I kind of planned the colors around their existing decor.

Since she has always loved cats and Hello Kitty, we already had a lot of things around the house that I was able to use for decorations.

I made this invitation in Photoshop.

We got the decorations from TJ Maxx, and Amazon, and I had the rest.

I made the cake using a standard heart shaped cake pan. I used my best vanilla cake recipe and doubled it, so it made four heart cake pans. I doubled my buttercream recipe for decorating the cake. Unfortunately, my camera wasn’t recording, so I didn’t capture the process. Basically, I stacked the four layers (adding frosting and jam in between).

I did a crumb coat, then a layer of pink frosting and then went around the edges, creating little ruffles with yellow and pink frosting.

Hello Kitty Cake

The cake’s Hello Kitty designs came from Amazon. The topper was using the top of a Hello Kitty ice pack.

The cake cost less than $10 to make.

I stuffed the clear Hello Kitty bags we found at TJ Maxx with pillows and blanket filling.

Sam’s Club had a cookie cake with Hello Kitty on it, and I got that as a second option because we were also doing another get together with family, and so we needed to have extra.

Because there were light up neon flowers on the walls of the party room I thought it would be cute to bring a few Hello Kitty neon signs for the party table.

The tablescape for the kids tables consisted of a few different party packs and balloons.

The lighting was not good in the room so the photos did not turn out great, but everyone had a fun time!

Amelia helped me fill the party bags with the following gifts:

Hello Kitty coloring books from Walmart $1.00 each, Crayons .25 each, ring pops about .10 each, a Hello Kitty pencil .50, and Bubble Tape bubble gum $1.00 each. Each bag cost about $4 each.

Supplies List

The setup took about 20 minutes. The kids had a great time. Happy Birthday my creative and fun Amelia.
