Neighbor Christmas Gift: Peppermint and White Chocolate Drizzled Popcorn.

I purchased a store-bought brand of peppermint popcorn and I didn’t like it very much.

I thought that I could make a really good peppermint popcorn using my favorite peppermint candies: Hershey’s candy cane kisses and mellow them out a bit by adding white chocolate.

I don’t love a lot of Hershey’s chocolates (German or Swiss chocolate is more my thing), however, the candy cane Hershey’s Kisses are amazing.

So, I popped some popcorn, buttered and salted it, and then made a peppermint and white chocolate drizzle and put it on top.

Wow, this peppermint and white chocolate drizzled popcorn turned out good!

It would make a classy neighbor Christmas gift for under $1.00.

Directions on how to assemble this Neighbor Christmas Gift: Peppermint and White Chocolate Drizzled Popcorn

Continue reading and/or watch the video on how to make this located on this page.

1- Pop the popcorn- Follow the instructions on your popcorn kernel bag.

Note that each batch of melted chocolate chips and Hershey’s candy cane kisses will make about 20 of these gifts if you are using the same size box I linked to and drizzling about the same amount I did (see the video).

Each box of the size I linked to holds about 1.5-2 Cups of popcorn, so you will need to pop 30-40 Cups of popcorn to use all of the drizzle.

2- Melt butter and evenly and lightly coat the popcorn in butter.

3- Salt the popcorn.

You can skip steps 1-3 if you want to use bagged buttered popcorn microwave it and jump to step 4.

4- Set up the small popcorn boxes and make sure to crease the bottoms well so that they stand up straight. Fill each box with 1/3 popcorn

5- Unwrap one full 9 oz bag of Hershey’s candy cane kisses and put them in a microwave-safe bowl.

6- Add one bag of white Ghirardelli white chocolate chips (11 oz) to the bowl with the kisses in it.

7- Microwave the chocolate for one minute and stir well.

8- Microwave for another 30 seconds and stir well. If the chocolate is still not melted, continue microwaving in 15-second increments until it is melted.

Please note— When melting chocolate in a glass bowl, the bowl will retain quite a bit of heat so you can continue melting the chocolate outside of the microwave by stirring it until the bowl cools.

9- Once the peppermint white chocolate mixture has melted, drizzle it onto the popcorn, add another 1/3 popcorn, drizzle more peppermint white chocolate, and top off the popcorn box with popcorn and drizzle the final chocolate on top.

10- Clean the side(s) of the box if necessary.

Tip- I found that by picking up the box and tilting it slightly, I kept the sides of the popcorn boxes clean. Please watch the video found on this page to see how I do this.

11- Optional but highly recommended… Put the popcorn box in a cellophane bag and tie it with a ribbon. Or wrap it in cellophane wrapping and tie it with a ribbon.

That’s it. This treat is inexpensive and oh so, so good!

Enjoy!
