This Alfredo Sauce Homemade Recipe makes creamy and delicious Alfredo.
If making homemade Alfredo sauce is intimidating, don’t let it be. I used to be nervous about making homemade Alfredo because I thought it was easy to mess up. As it turns out, this recipe is easy. All you have to do is add ingredients slowly and whisk them together in a saucepan.
That’s it! I’ve made this recipe many times and never messed it up.
I often make this recipe for pasta night, for my baked ziti recipe, and for these Spinach Artichoke Puff Pastries and it has always turned out great!
Please give it a try and let me know how you like it in the comments below.

- On low heat, melt butter in a sauce pan. Whisk in pepper, onion powder, and minced garlic. To avoid burning the butter (you don’t want to do this), stir it often and add the spices quickly. Once you add the heavy whipping cream (next step), you will no longer need to worry about burning the butter. If you love the taste of garlic, add 1 Tablespoon of garlic juice/water from the minced garlic jar for extra flavor.
- Add heavy whipping cream to the butter and whisk.
- On medium-high heat, stir in 1 Cup of real parmesan cheese (not the grated kind) with a large spoon, often until the cheese is fully melted, then add another 1 Cup of parmesan and stir, add another, and finally add the fourth. Once the cheese is fully melted, remove from heat.
- Taste test the Alfredo sauce and add additional amounts of spices as desired.
- Optional- chop up some fresh Italian parsley and stir it into the Alfredo before serving.
Ingredients– Serves 10
- 1/2 C butter
- 4 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 1/2 Cups heavy whipping cream
- 4 Cups of real shredded parmesan cheese that will melt right (not the grated kind). Tip- I usually use the Galbani brand from Costco. I freeze any leftover Parmesan to keep it from molding. I take it out of the freezer at least a few hours before making this so it defrosts.
- Optional- 3 Tablespoons freshly chopped Italian Parsley right before serving for flavor and a dash of color
- Optional- If you are a garlic lover, pour in 1 Tablespoon of garlic water from the minced garlic jar for an extra kick of flavor.
