Aurora’s Chocolate-Filled Fresh Strawberries

My seven year old daughter, Aurora, made these chocolate filled fresh strawberries on her own.

She made them to try to play a yummy trick on me.

She brought a fresh normal looking strawberry up to me and told me to taste it. I took a bite was so pleasantly surprised to taste milk chocolate on the inside.

I had no idea there was chocolate inside since she cleans them well with a paper towel after filling them and I’ve never heard of nor seen chocolate-filled strawberries. I had no idea that they contained chocolate.

I asked her how she made them, and she proceeded to tell me how.

1. Gather the supplies so that you can work quickly once the Chocolate bar has been melted.

2. Using a stir stick, poke a hole in the bottom of the strawberries without poking through the top or sides of the strawberries.

3. Break up a chocolate bar into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 15 seconds and stir, repeat until the chocolate is fully melted. Alternatively, you can create a double boiler to melt your chocolate.

4. Using a funnel and spatula, funnel the melted chocolate into a clean plastic medicinal or culinary syringe.

5. Fill the strawberries will the chocolate using the syringe.

6. If you want to conceal the fact that the strawberries have chocolate inside. What we did is press the two sides of hole together to seal it off then wipe the strawberry clean with a paper towel.

7. Refrigerate until eaten. Consume within a day or two.

I prefer these much more to the chocolate dipped strawberries because there is more of the strawberry flavor and freshness to each bite.

Additionally, the melted chocolate turns solid and provides a bit of a crunch that then melts in the mouth without any of it flaking off or falling as happens at times with chocolate dipped or chocolate coated strawberries.

The textures are so fun because its the opposite experience of eating a chocolate covered strawberry with the hard shell outside vs inside.

Ingredients for Aurora’s Chocolate Filled Fresh Strawberries

Fresh Strawberries, washed

Milk chocolate bar or white chocolate bar or both- 1.50 oz will fill about 15 strawberries. 1 oz of melted chocolate is about 30 ml of melted chocolate. Depending on the size and the cavity in the middle of each strawberry, it will take between 2-5 ml of melted chocolate to fill them.

Note- Make sure that your chocolate bars have no nuts or anything chunky like toffee or cookie bits etc. because it will clog up the syringe.

Do not use melting wafer chocolates as it cools too quickly and will clog up the syringe.
