El Fudge Referee Joke Dessert

This year my son’s team got sacked a few times by bad referee calls.

Once, a game should have gone into overtime but the referee called the 1 point conversion as good when it was not; we lost.

Another time, we intercepted the ball, were running it down to score and for no apparent reason the referee kept blowing his whistle so our player who would have made it, stopped short of the end zone. This referee admitted he had just gotten confused and thought that instead of an actual down it was a 2 pt conversion; it wasn’t, it was a regular down. It was the craziest call and instead of giving us the yardage earned, they took us back to the original line of scrimmage. We lost.

And finally, an hour long game went into 6 overtimes! At the 1.5 hour mark we scored and won the game. Then a whistle and an after-the-game (no flag was thrown) phantom face mask call was made. We were walked back 15 yards from the original line of scrimmage. We lost.

So, I made this little dessert for one of our pep rallies and the boys really liked it.

“Oh ELL the refs FUDGED it up again!”

It was easy but took some time as I was also making them homemade garlic bread and this baked ziti alfredo for the team…a few of us moms were trying to keep morale up.

Since time was limited, I just decorated enough for each boy to get 1 or 2 El Fudges that were decorated and the rest they ate from the packaging.

Instructions on how to make these Oh Ell We Fudged It Up Again Referees

Make this frosting recipe. depending on how many you make you will likely want to 1/2 this recipe.

Frost them.

Use a toothpick dipped deep into black gel food coloring and swipe the sides of the toothpick (held horizontal to the cookie) along the frosting lightly to make the referee lines.

Add sprinkle eye balls and sprinkle footballs.

I used a toothpick to make the refs mouths open like “oops” face and hair spikes.

AND….I didn’t know it was an “F word joke”. My husband and son said it was.

I truly was intending to mean the word “fudged”.

Either way though, the boys loved it.
