Elf on the Shelf: Ice Fishing.
Our elves went ice fishing today.
Some of the details are so cute.
I love snow sports but I’ve never been ice fishing. I imagine it is fun but also very cold!
Pepper Mint and Winter Mint, our EOTS sibling duo love details. In this scene Pepper brought along his rod from his ‘fishin in the dark‘ scene from a few years ago,
They pulled along their sled with gear. Inside the sled they had an ice auger that they used to make their fishing hole,
an ice scoop—or the best ice scoop that they could find (spatula), and some sort of ice pick thing.
Pepper was sitting next to a tackle box.
The tackle box had lures,
and worms for bait.
Winter was sitting on a cooler.
and had a thermos of hot cocoa.
Pepper was sitting on sheepskin rug,
and had some warm gloves, scarf, beanie, snow pants and boots.
Winter was dressed in a warm beanie,
a snow coat, snow pants, gloves, and water-proof boots.
They looked like they were having a great time.
My kids really loved this scene and I think my husband may have liked this one too; I thought it was fun.
Supplies I think our elves used for this Elf on the Shelf: Ice Fishing scene.
white poster foam core board 3’x2′ x2 and items for it to sit on and for the other to lean against. They just used some boxes for it to sit on and a box for it lead against as one of the boards went behind them for a backdrop.
Ice sled- Lego raft, dinghy, boat which comes in a lot of Lego sets
spatula although a ladle would have been more fitting for the ice scoop (Barbie baking set)
cooler (Barbie Loves The Ocean Beach-Themed Playset, with Volleyball set)
Barbie-sized Thermos, I’m not sure where they sourced this.
giant green pipe cleaner/chenille stem
White and red beanies (came from Santa figurines)
boots (Barbie Dream Horse set),
tackle box, (Barbie Chelsea can be career doll set)
fishing rod: handmade. 1 piece thick wire wrapped in white tape. Then wrapped wires in a circle which were attached every inch or so for the rod guides.
Fishing rod reel: handmade. It looks like a clear bobbin with white thread wrapped around it. It looks as though a piece of plastic from inside a push pen was glued into the bobbin for the handle.
Worms: light pink rainbow sprinkles
2 Snowboarding Barbie sets for gloves, snowpants, Winter’s coat
paint (pewter grey) and foam brush to paint Pepper’s gloves
Worm can: handmade. Tin foil/ aluminum foil was folded into a can shape and hot glued on side. A circular aluminum foil bottom was cut out and glued on. The aluminum can was then rolled along an item that had tiny ridges on it to make a can look.
Hooks: Straight sewing pins with ball heads in different sizes which were bent into a hook shape using needle nose pliers.
aluminum foil
scissors
How I think our elves, Pepper and Winter set up this Elf on the Shelf: Ice Fishing scene.
Continue reading and/or watch the video to see more details.
1- Pepper’s snowboard gloves got painted Pewter paint vs the pink they came as.
2- The foam board was laid on some boxes and faux snow blanket, flocked trees, and faux snow sprinkles were set up.
3- Then they pulled their Lego sled and unloaded the cooler, thermos, tackle box, sheepskin rug, fishing rod, etc.
4- Using the ice auger aka wine key, they made a hole into the ice.
5- They ran their line and got comfy and began to fish.
That’s it, it was pretty cute.
