This is a Free Christ-Centered Easter Crossword Puzzle—With An optional Egg Hunt.

Recently, my religious leaders have been actively reminding the members of my Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, to prioritize the true meaning of Easter Sunday. We have been asked to more fully celebrate Christ’s victory over death and the opportunities we now have because of it.

While we have nothing against Easter bunnies, baskets, and egg hunts, we have been asked to remember to take time to celebrate, read, and discuss the Life, Atonement, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I have been thinking about how I could go about doing this with my children and help the kids in my primary class remember the reason we celebrate Easter Sunday.

In an attempt to make an activity that will be both fun and spiritual, I made this Christ-Centered Easter Crossword Puzzle which I named, “He Is Risen Easter Crossword Puzzle”.

The crossword puzzle is designed so that one has to look up and read scriptures about Christ’s last week and Resurrection in order to find the words to fill out the crossword puzzle.

Optional-Instead of a traditional crossword clue section, I thought it would be fun to hide the clues in Easter eggs and have my kids hunt for the clues.

Each clue is labeled 1 of 12, 2 of 12, 3 of 12, etc. so that the kids know they have found all 12 clues that they’ll need to complete the puzzle.

The egg hunt is totally optional, anyone can do this crossword without cutting out the clues, folding them, and putting them into Easter eggs, I just thought this would be fun for the kids, so that’s how we are going to do it at our home and for the kids in my primary class.

This will work for Christians who are and who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I made two versions.

Most of the clues are found in the New Testament however, one is found in The Book of Mormon. So, if you do not want to use the Book of Mormon, you’d want to download Version 2: New Testament-only version.

There is only one change in the two versions and the original crossword puzzle, “He is Risen Easter Crossword Puzzle” works with both versions.

Version 1— The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints version with reference to The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

Version 2– New Testament- King James Bible only version:

You will need to use the King James Version of the Bible; an electronic free version can be found here. This is the version that I used to make the puzzle and since there are some fill-in-the-blank clues you’ll want to make sure to use it too.
