We are so excited for Spring and Summer at our house! We cannot wait to enjoy days outside. I created these $10.00 Outdoor-Activities Easter Baskets {Candy Free} for my kids to encourage them to get out and be active.
Yes, these baskets were only $10 each! I found the items at Target (most were in the $1.00 bins at the front of the store). I found the chalk and silly putty in the sections that they belong in for .99 cents each. The baskets and artificial filler grass are re-used from previous years but were originally found at a thrift store for .50 cents each.
I have nothing against kids eating candy for Easter, I just know that my kids will get PLENTY of candy when they go on Easter Egg Hunts. That’s why each year I usually give my kids Easter baskets without candy. I’ve noticed that by not including candy in the baskets, it saves on cost as well!
Here is the content list of each of the $10.00 Outdoor-Activities Easter Baskets:
Note that some of these same or similar items could be found for $1.00 at the Dollar Tree. For convenience, I link to many of the items I’ve included on Amazon (however the prices may vary on Amazon vs Target).
- Jumping ropes $1.00 each x 2 (so they can skip rope with a friend) =$2.00
- Bubbles pack of 3= $1.00
- Sidewalk chalk = $1.00
- Washable paint $1.00 ea x 2= $2.00
- Silly putty $1.00 ea x 2= $2.00
- Flower pot to grow a flower = $1.00
- Watermelon seeds to grow = $1.00
- Tomato seeds to grow = $1.00
- Slime packs I had these left over from Valentines (that my kids didn’t ever see) = Free
- Basket and grass reused from previous years = Free
Total $10.00 (If you don’t include a jump rope for a friend to use). With a rope for a friend it is $11.00.
I couldn’t believe I could put together such a fun and activity-filled Easter Basket for my children for only $10.00 each! Plus, the price and the contents usually beat the pre-made baskets you can buy at stores.
I hope this gives you some ideas of how to create a fun, affordable, outdoor-activities Easter basket that is candy free!
