Neighbor Christmas Gift Peppermint Hot Cocoa in a Jar + Free Printable

This is a classic neighbor hot cocoa gift with a bit of a twist—I may have intended to use that pun.

Adding peppermint Hershey’s Kisses to hot cocoa is a delicious way to make a standard hot cocoa mix taste divine.

It also adds such a beautiful look to a hot cocoa jar.

These are so easy to make and were very inexpensive as well. See the cost breakdown below.

These mason jars of peppermints and hot cocoa are delicious and fun.

Plus, they come with a free printable tag—download below.

I bought the image and added some Hershey’s Kisses graphics to it so it would work better for this gift.

I will attach a graphic download so you can make your own Word document as I know not all hot cocoa instructions are the same.

How to put together this Neighbor Christmas Gift Peppermint Hot Cocoa in a Jar + Free Printable

Watch the video on this page and/or continue reading to see how to assemble these jars of hot cocoa.

1- Make sure your jars and clean and COMPLETELY dry. I thought I had dried all my jars well after washing them… I missed one. Any moisture will make the hot cocoa a different color and it will look bad. Example in the photo below:

2- Using a hot glue gun and a popsicle stick, glue peppermint colored ribbon that is 1.5″ wide onto the middle of the jar. Make sure to clean off any additional glue.

3- Pour in dry hot cocoa mix—about 9 oz.

4- Place two large spoons of chocolate chips in the jar making sure they are easily visible on the sides.

5- Place 6 Hershey’s Peppermint kisses around the rim of the jar so they are easily visible. You’ll save the 7th to go on top of the marshmallows.

6- Put mini marshmallows in the top of the jar and press them in and around the peppermint kisses.

If desired, add an additional kiss to the top.

7- Pull the saran wrap tight on the top so that it is clear. Press against the outer rim of the jar to stick it.

8- Tie the string around the rim of the jar.

9- Holding the saran wrap gently rip the excess off. See the video if this is unclear.

10- Add a mini clothespin to the string. If you want the peppermint decal, print a round peppermint clip art one off cut it out, and glue it on.

11- Print off the free printable, cut them out, and clip them on.

Now you have a beautiful neighbor Christmas gift to deliver to friends and family.
