Valentine’s Day Love at Home Mantel Decor

Valentine's Day Love at Home Mantel Decor

This year, I decorated my Valentine’s Day mantel to highlight the theme of ‘love at home’.

It ties into my entryway Valentine’s Day decorations as well.

I feel most loved when I am home with my family.

My husband and I strive to make our home life one that the kids will thrive in.

He and I actually prefer being home most of the time and love that our kids really enjoy being home as well.

I know this because they get excited when we are out and about and I say, “Let’s go home” or when they are happy when we pull into our driveway and I say, “We are home”.

Also, the older kids often choose to have their play dates/bring their friends to our home as well.

I know this isn’t the case for some, but home really should be a place where families feel loved, protected, and comfortable.

Mini rose toothpicks. I bought these a few years ago at a craft store (I can’t remember which one). If you can’t find something similar and want them, there are tutorials online on how to make toothpicks that are similar to these.

How to put together this Valentine’s Day Love at Home Mantel Decor

Looking at this mantel, you can see how I laid everything out. Just in case, someone wants more explanation, I’ll just write the steps I took to put it together.

I fluffed up and set out the pampas grass wreaths. I put one on both sides of the mantel.

Then I set out the wooden beads and pompom garlands along the mantel. I used two of each (totaling four). Our mantel is 9 feet long so one may need more or less garland depending on the size of their mantel.

I set out DIY wooden block hearts which my husband and I made.

We made six but since I was using the red heart on my entry table, I just set out the five that worked with the color scheme of this VDAY mantel.

The DIY tutorial can be found in the supply list in this post.

I got the wooden block houses at an after-Thanksgiving sale and used them on my  Peanuts kids tablescape this year.

I thought that reusing them for this mantel would be perfect since I was going for a ‘love at home’ theme.

I had mini toothpick roses that I put inside the leather pouches on the home blocks.

This mantel came together in under 15 minutes.

Although it’s a different color scheme from my red and white heart entry table decor, they both work together because of the block hearts and because both displays have the “Home” with a heart sign.

Cost for this Valentine’s Day Love at Home Mantel Decor

Believe it or not, most of the items on this Valentine’s mantel were bought at 70-90% off at After-Christmas-Sales.

The wooden bead garlands were $4.00 each.

The wreaths were $9.00 each.

The pompom garlands were $2.00 each.

I had the other items on hand as I got them for different holidays or I made them.

The total for this Valentine’s Day Pampas Wreath Mantel decor was $30.00.

I found really good deals during the first and second weeks of January on decorations that I believed I could use and reuse for different holidays and purposes and the home blocks we 90% off when I got them for a different purpose as well. If you like to decorate, I highly recommend checking out after-holiday sales!

Reusing and repurposing decor helps save money. If you find decorations that are more neutral in color, you can often repurpose them for multiple different holidays throughout the year.
