Wood Peg Doll Craft: Family Love
For Valentine’s Day, I made this little wood peg doll family which spells the word, ‘Love’.
I like how it turned out, especially displayed in the wooden heart tray I purchased from World Market (linked below).
It turned out to be a darling little display.
This craft really couldn’t be easier. It only took a few supplies and about 5 minutes to make. It would be great to make with children about 6 years and older. I wrote how to modify it so kids could do it more easily in the instruction list below.

The total cost for this was about .45 cents because I had most everything and got the tray with my World Market rewards.
If you don’t have the items on hand or World Market rewards and want the tray, this display would cost about $20.00 to create.
How to Make this Wood Peg Doll Craft: Family Love
Continue reading and/or watch the tutorial video on this page on how to make these wood peg dolls.
1- Using a black chisel tip permanent marker, draw an L on the first wood peg doll,
a V on the third wood peg doll
and an E on the last peg doll.
2- Using an ultra fine-tipped permanent red marker, outline a heart and go around the neckline of the wood peg doll twice (doubling the stroke). This gives room to bleed when you switch to the larger chisel-tipped marker. It also helps to avoid getting red marker onto the wood peg doll head.
Switch to the chisel-tipped marker fill in around the heart (not inside it) and make the little wood peg doll completely red minus the heart and head.
If desired, place them together on a cute tray.
This would be a great craft for children who are a little older.
To modify it for kids, trace the letters and hearts with a pencil first, then have them follow the traced lines with the markers.
I purchased a wooden heart tray from World Market that matches these dolls very well and have linked to it in the supply list above.
That’s it.
This Wood Peg Doll Craft: Family Love would be great for Valentine’s Day decoration or used on a display highlighting family and love.
