These three Fall Flower Arrangements will be used to decorate my home for years to come.
Normally, I am a fan of fresh flower arrangements and real plants, but occasionally, I actually prefer artificial flower arrangements. I made these three Fall Flower Arrangements and am very happy with how they turned out.
I choose to make these Fall Flower Arrangements out of artificial flowers because I often host Thanksgiving and need centerpieces each year. This will save me time and money every year I host.
Plus, I was able to customize them to match my home and other fall decor. Now I can also use them as decorations in October and November—not just for my Thanksgiving tablescapes.
My grandfather, who I was very close to, recently died of cancer. His floral arrangements were made by my good friend, also in a fall theme. So, after the funeral, I took items that could be preserved (cat tails, wheat, and Safari Sunset) and I dried and saved them to make fall floral arrangements of my own. Not only are they beautiful, but these arrangements are also sentimental.
For a fall decor look in my home, I put one on each side of my piano…
and one on a console table in my sitting room.
In order to make these fall flower arrangements yourself, you’ll need to gather similar items.
I bought many of the supplies on Amazon. A few supplies I already had, and a few things were bought locally. However, for convenience, I linked to all of the items online that are exact or very similar to what you’ll need in case you’d like to purchase it all at once.
Supply List for Fall Flower Arrangements
Wheat stalks (I had these; 3 per vase)
Dried cat tails (I dried these from a fresh bouquet; 2 per vase)
Leucadendron aka Safari Sunset (I dried these from a fresh bouquet; 1 per vase)
Cotton stems 2 bundles for 3 vases
Brown “coffee colored” Peonies 1 bundle for 3 vases (3 peonies per vase, 2 were open/bloomed and 1 closed).
Burgundy “new red” peonies 1 bundle for 3 vases (3 peonies per vase, 2 were open/bloomed and 1 closed).
Sunflowers white (2 large stems per vase)
maple leaves 1 bundle for 3 vases
harvest berries 1 more than enough for 3 vases
Off white plastic pumpkins (2 per arrangement and half of them painted silver)
Pot or vase. I found mine at a local store but these are cute options as well: rustic milk can vase ,Vintage mason jars (or just paint mason jars with white chalk paint), and similar vases to mine
First, cut and place floral foam into vases.
Next, paint half of the plastic pumpkins silver and allow them to dry.
Begin assembly.
When I do floral arrangements I like to place the largest flowers first and fill around them. I also make sure that the middle flowers are taller than the flowers that go around the edges.
So, if the flower is in or around the middle it is tallest and then I cut the stems shorter or push them further into the floral foam as the flower gets closer to the edge of the vase.
So, with this fall floral arrangement, I started with the large sunflowers and put 2 per vase. Then I did divvied up equal amounts of peonies and pumpkins (2 per vase, one white, and one silver or gold) and placed those in an organized spread out fashion.
Then I filled in the gaps with the cotton, maple leaves, and fall berries. I prefer full floral arrangements, however, you can arrange yours to your own preference.
When I finished filling out the main arrangement, I stuck in the tall wheat stalks, cat tails, and dried safari sunset spread throughout to bring some height to the fall floral arrangement.
After that, I felt they were complete and was very happy with how these Fall Flower Arrangements came together.
I am excited to use them on our dining table and as decor this Thanksgiving and for many years to come.
These were very fun to make. I love arranging flowers and will post a few other flower arrangements I have recently done soon. So, please come back for more.
