The Best Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe is an amazingly easy recipe with common ingredients. It makes a very smooth delicious chocolate frosting that melts in the mouth.

Ingredients

1/4 C salted butter
1 8oz Cream cheese or Neufchatel cream cheese
1 tsp Vanilla extract (I use Mexican extract because it is better)
4  C confectioners/Powdered sugar
1/4-1/3 C cocoa baking powder (start with 1/4 C and add as desired)

Makes enough for 1 large cake or 24 cupcakes

Instructions

1. First, soften the butter and unwrapped-cream cheese in the microwave. For a firmer consistency don’t melt either one.

2. Next, add all of the ingredients and only 1 C powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix on low speed adding the rest of the powdered sugar slowly until it is all added.

4. Taste Test.

5. Depending on your preferences you may want to add more cocoa powder (which is why I recommend starting with 1/4 C and adding more to taste).

I did this but used maybe 1/2 cup of powdered sugar plus maple syrup and stevia to taste, doubled the base of butter and cream cheese, was making carob frosting but added a bit of melted semisweet chocolate chips (about 1/4 cupish), plus a pinch of sea salt. Came out great! Thanks!

You could but I would not try that substitution I think the consistency would be different.
