This is an Elf on the Shelf Sewing Scene that was left for us by our elves.

Elf on the Shelf Sewing Scene

I loved this scene, it is so darling; there were many miniature details that were cute.

The elves were sewing on this antique sewing machine that had a manual hand wheel that moved the needle bar, the spool, and the foot pedal.

The day after the elves left and were in a different spot in our home, my daughter was playing around with the sewing machine and found out that it was a music box.

Watch the video if you would like to see how the sewing machine works.

As the music plays all of the moving parts of the sewing machine also move.

Other cute components of this scene are the small sewing baskets that were set out for Pepper and Winter (our elves).

Pepper’s sewing box is sitting on a few spools so he can reach them.

I noticed that many of the thread colors the elves left out were Christmas colors that matched the gingerbread Christmas-themed material they were sewing.

To set the scene the elves got out my sewing machine, my sewing box, and sewing patterns I own.

Pepper is measuring an apron or dress that they are making. It is sitting on a dress form.

The details are pretty cute.

Both of my daughters stayed in my office a lot of the day and did crafts of their own so they could be near the elves. They loved this scene.

Surprisingly, my sons even liked it too. My two-year-old kept wanting to touch everything.

And my older son thought the sewing machine and miniature sewing boxes were really cool.

Directions for this Elf on the Shelf Sewing Scene

Continue reading and/or watch the quick video of this scene to see how they may have set this up and how the sewing machine works when the music is turned on.

1- They set out a lot of my sewing things and made sure to use colors that matched the material they were working with.

2- They cut up some material and put it on my sewing machine, on Winter’s mini sewing machine, and wrapped it around a form. They secured the material with hot glue to make a dress. Then they added a decorative ribbon to the neckline with hot glue as well.

3- They opened up their sewing boxes and used a little measuring tape to measure the dress they were making. Oh and I think Winter used a large roll of embroidery floss as a seat.

That’s it. It looks like this scene probably took about 10-15 minutes to set up.
