Elf on the Shelf: December Seek and Find.
This day with our elves was bittersweet—as it was the last day that they were here with us.
They left us a seek-and-find similar to last year’s Dollhouse seek-and-find.
They filled my daughter’s dollhouse with items that they used each day this month and asked us to check those days off when we found at least one item from each day.
The note said the following, “Check the List. Find one thing in this doll house from each of the days we got to spend with you and check it off. ….. Merry Christmas and see you next year! Pepper and Winter Mint.”
It was fun to do but my daughter, Aurora, who is eight, cried when we were done.
She loves having the elves here.
She loves the scenes they set each day and she and my daughter Amelia typically spend hours a day looking at the scenes or playing with the items in them (without touching the elves).
I comforted her by reminding her that they’d be back and that it is only special because they are only with us in December.
They wouldn’t be so anticipated and cherished if they were with us all year.
Plus, they needed to get back to the North Pole to help Santa. That seemed to cheer her up.
It was because of her that we got an Elf on the Shelf.
Last year, she came home from school absolutely devastated that we were the only family in her school class without one. I had no idea they were so popular. So, I told her that I filled out the Elf on the Shelf request form and Pepper came the next day.
I thought I’d dread one more thing going on each season, but I found that I really enjoyed having the Elf on the Shelf in our home. It brought so much excitement and joy to my kids’ mornings— especially my daughters, Aurora and Amelia, that I was happy that the elves make them so happy.
I’ve found I love the creativity the Elf on the Shelf scene sparks and wanted to share them on my blog.
So it’s a bittersweet thing.
Bitter because my kids are sad but sweet because they know they’ll be back and that they really do look forward to having them back all year long.
Supplies I think Pepper and Winter used for this Elf on the Shelf: December Seek and Find scene.

Items from each day that I’ll link to in that individual post.
Days of 2022 Elf on the Shelf Scenes.
Elf on the Shelf: Card Players The mini playing cards on the coffee table are the clue for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Pirate Treasure Hunt. The tricorn pirate hat and bandana are the clues.
Elf on the Shelf: Soccer and Foosball Fans The TV with the soccer match is the clue.
Elf on the Shelf: Snowball Fight The faux snow and snowball are the clues.
Elf on the Shelf: Riding in Rapids. The framed image on the desk is the clue.
This is just too cute and it’s hard to see as they printed it so small and taped it to a Lego ledge… so I’ll add a larger image so that you can see it better.
Elf on the Shelf: Jingle Bell Rock The keyboard and microphone are the clues.
Elf on the Shelf: Sweet Tooth Pepper eating sweets that they bought checks this day off.
Elf on the Shelf: Sleigh Ride. Winter’s coat and the jingle bells are the items that check this day off.
Elf on the Shelf: Ice Climbing The ice picks are the items we found for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: FaLaLaLa Llama(s) The mini llama in the nursery is the item for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Cookies The tiny cookie cutters are the items for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Oh Christmas Tree The lantern was the item to find for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Bubblegum The gumballs were the correct find for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: The Floor is Lava The beanbags were the correct item to check this day off.
Elf on the Shelf: Yurt Camping This day could be checked off by either the guitar or the mallows on roasting sticks.
Elf on the Shelf: Toy Inventory The toys were the correct items for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Tea Party The tea service on the coffee table in the living room signifies this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Never Touch a Polar Bear This day was hard because there were no giant polar bears in the dollhouse and that scene was very simple. The kids and I figured it out it must be Pepper’s PJs that he is wearing that signify this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Snowboarding the Halfpipe My son made us laugh pretty hard when he looked and looked and couldn’t find the clue for this day. Once he found it, he felt pretty blind…
Elf on the Shelf: Sushi Night The sushi Winter is eating represents this scene.
Elf on the Shelf: Happy Birthday The elf cupcake topper peeking out of the washing machine is the correct clue for this day.
I think that this is a pretty cute place for the cupcake topper.
Elf on the Shelf: The Polar Express The hot cocoa and mini bell necklace represent The Polar Express day.
Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Carol The wreath that Pepper wears as the ghost of Christmas Present is the correct item for this day.
Elf on the Shelf: Duck the Halls The tiny ducks on the skateboard and rocking horse represented this fun day.
Elf on the Shelf: Girls’ Night Out The purse next to Winter on the couch represented this scene.
If you look carefully at the list, you may notice one extra day.
That day, the elves were found peeking out of the stockings hung on our mantel. Aurora made smaller stockings for Pepper and Winter and hung them on the mantel next to them. This scene is on the checklist (they can be found in the crib).
I didn’t post this day on my blog as it was a very busy day and before I knew it, it was over.
Oh and I’ll explain here why we had over 25 days. I have been divorced and my older two were with my ex-husband a few mornings this month, my daughter asked for them to come early because of this…so I requested that the elves arrive a few days early and they did.
The elves still moved around on the days my older kids were gone but since they weren’t here to see them—unless we Facetimed, it was easier to just request that they come a few days earlier.
Well, that’s it for this year’s Elf on the Shelf scenes. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and please check back next year for more.
